Loki in Sanguine

I was recently given a book by a family friend who'd accidentally bought two of the same book called The Artist's Complete Guide to Drawing the Head by William L. Maughan. You can find a copy here:[link] It's quite a useful book if you're learning about portrait drawing and it inspired me to try drawing with sanguine and white pencils rather than my normal sketching pencils.

Thing is, you need half-tone paper, ideally grey, for this kind of drawing. The closest thing I had in the house was an old piece of grey cardboard. Hence the slightly line-covered quality of poor Loki here.

For the first try, I'm fairly pleased with it And I've got some proper paper now, so there will be much more of these coming.
